Our Beginnings:
A Turning Point for Solar

In 2016, three solar industry pioneers sparked a vision. At a time when the sector was racing to boost residential and commercial solar sales, the standard response to performance hiccups was summed up as O&M—operations and maintenance. Typically, this meant the original installer would address issues under manufacturer warranties, but only if problems were noticed. Two challenges emerged: delays, as O&M often took a backseat to new sales, and instability, as many installers vanished amid business closures and insolvencies. This created a widening gap in the industry: the post-sale experience. Large-scale lease portfolio holders and homeowners left stranded by bankruptcies faced diminishing returns due to undetected system issues and chronic underperformance. Confidence in renewable energy investments risked fading. Thus, 3PLX’s mission took shape: to safeguard and enhance clean energy investments.

The Vision

  • The founding trio brought a wealth of expertise, spanning operations, financial strategy, and market expansion across local and global landscapes.

    They posed a series of ‘imagine if’ questions:

    • Imagine if we crafted tech and a team to shift from reactive O&M calls to proactive issue detection and client support?
    • Imagine if we could remotely pinpoint the root causes of performance dips and quantify each factor’s impact? It was logical—real-world issues often intertwine.
    • Imagine if we assembled a crew relentlessly dedicated to service excellence and operational precision?

     

    3PLX took flight.

    Well, almost. Initially, the company had a very simple that's not worth mentioning.

    In a meeting room, they delved into purpose over names. A whiteboard brimmed with ambitions:

    • Remote performance diagnostics hinged on digital tools—the bedrock of AI-driven pattern recognition for pinpointing performance culprits.
    • This tech could extend beyond solar to other digital assets—think batteries, HVAC, even lighting!
    • The new venture aimed to shield the performance of these asset types.

     

    The name 3PLX emerged from the combination of Third Party Logistics (3PL) and Technology (X).

Assembling the Crew
